Introducing Aleyda - Founder of Buds to Blossoms Nursery
Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Aleyda came to the UK in 2010 to study for her Master’s degrees in Business Finance and Marketing. While working with under-fives at an Anglo-Spanish school, she discovered her passion: caring for and nurturing young minds.
Her passion for helping children grow in confidence and develop essential skills led her to complete extensive early years training, including the Montessori method and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) qualifications.
The Seed of an Idea
After moving to East Molesey with her young family in 2020, Aleyda launched a successful, OFSTED-approved childminding business. There she honed her childcare approach — combining structured activities with plenty of free play, indoors and outdoors, to support each child’s development in a fun, engaging way.
When the chance arose to take over the setting at the East Molesey sports ground — encircled by green fields and woodland — Aleyda knew it was the perfect home for her vision.
In early 2025, Buds to Blossoms Nursery and Forest School opened its doors.
Inspired by Nature
Aleyda says:
“Growing up in Bogotá, we didn’t have outdoor space — but I loved visiting my grandpa’s farm, full of animals and fruit trees. That connection to nature stayed with me, and I wanted to bring the same joy to the children here.
“Our outdoor learning space and the fairy ring beneath the old oak tree have a magical atmosphere. Children have the freedom to explore their own natural playground, build secret dens, grow flowers and vegetables, and discover the wonders of the world around them.”
