Our Typical Day
Our Day
8am - Morning, morning!
We arrive bright and early, diving straight into a yummy breakfast, followed by lots of free play where our children have fun and catch up with friends.
9am - Off Outdoors
It’s welly time! We all head across the sports pitch following a winding path to our serene, green outdoor area; a secluded space where a grand old oak tree takes centre stage. Completely safe and sturdy, the centre has hollowed over time providing the perfect nook for children to weave in and out of, read and play.
Here we enjoy our first activities of the day, such as:
- Singing songs and nursery rhymes accompanied by our talented team
- Mixing up magical potions with mud, water and other natural ingredients in our mud kitchens
- Learning yoga to move our bodies and explore our emotions (it’s never too early to learn how to manage ‘big feelings’)
- Drama activities for encouraging creativity and communication
10am - Snack Time
Children help themselves to a variety of healthy snacks, including fresh fruit, rice cakes and smoothies.
Re-fuel with Lunch
Around midday, nutritious, freshly prepared food is served outside at our picnic tables weather permitting, alternatively we can cook up a delicious barbecue over our fire pit.
We encourage the children to get hands-on with cooking (supervised, of course) and explore different tastes and menus.
A nursery favourite is a traditional Colombian dish of arepas, plantain with cheese, grilled over the fire. Delicious!
12.30–2pm - Napping and Quiet Time
It’s snooze time for anyone who wants one in our cosy sleep room. The rest of the children enjoy outings, such as trips to the library, Hampton Court Palace, the riverside or they can take part in the wide range of engaging activities in the setting or outdoors in our play area or green learning space.
These include:
- Story-time and reading under our ancient oak tree
- Arts and crafts with natural materials
- Collecting treasures on scavenger hunts
- Bug hunting and building bug hotels
- Meditation and yoga
- Dance lessons with our professional dance teacher
- Phonics for learning letter sounds
- Number games for learning early maths
- Planting vegetables and fruit in our timber planters
- Den building, plus much, much more.
14.30pm - Snack Time
All that fun and fresh-air means it’s time to fill our tummies with more nutritious snacks and drinks.
4.30pm - Dinner Time
Everyone gathers for dinner in the setting for a warm cooked meal, followed by free play until pick-up time at 6pm.
